About Audrey Williams
My father, who passed away in 1999, was Black American born in Arkansas and my mother is Anglo-Burmese born in Rangoon.
The question I get often is “How in the world did a Black man meet a Burmese woman?!” You will have to read the story! 😉
I was born at Camp Pendleton (Oceanside), California and raised from age 4 in the town of Jacksonville, North Carolina…home of Camp Lejeune, the largest Marine Corps base in the US. Yes, I am the proud daughter of a US Marine.
Growing up in a farming community turned military town, with a diverse social scene of Marines, good-old Southern boys and belles, along with the transplants and the occasional mixed-race family like my own, definitely led to some interesting life experiences and lessons in humanity.
I went to NC State for undergrad and grad school, with a focus on Technical Communication.
My intent now is to write creative nonfiction about the multiracial experience and encourage others to do the same.
A great chutney…….awsome
